Virtual Slide Scanning FacilityVirtual Slide Scanning Facility

The Virtual Microscopy Laboratory is dedicated to providing digital microscopy services to support the educational research and service missions of the School of Veterinary Medicine and the UC Davis campus at large.

We are also happy to offer our services and expertise for researchers and educators outside of the UC system and will work with our clients to ensure effective solutions at a reasonable cost.

Our high-throughput Olympus scanner offers flexible solutions for all your bright-field and fluorescence microscopy needs.

Our virtual microscopy laboratory is located in room 1343 of Veterinary Medicine Building 3A (VM3A).  This facility houses an Olympus VS120 scanner capable of  bright field and fluorescence imaging, with the capacity for automated scanning of up 100 slides. Images can be delivered by flash media, external hard drives (provided by the client) or cloud sharing. Alternatively, we can provide storage on our server with access to slides through our searchable database.

We also provide access to a morphometry workstation with Visiopharm, the leading morphometry and stereology software package currently available. Use of the work station is available at an hourly rate, or we can provide the morphometric data for you.
